November 2008 In And Around Our Yard In Virginia, raking leaves, taking pictures! Enjoy!

What do you think of these pictures?

I just can't seem to help myself! I see so much beauty all around me and things that intrigue me, too. I even go on scouting missions to see what I can/might/do find out! It's a blast any way that I look at it and I'm thrilled to be able to take so many pictures and include them here on this blog.

It's 10:57 PM on Sunday night here at home in northern Virginia where I live with my family. It's December 14th, 2008 as I type this and I will post it shortly ; and prpbably add to it as I see fit or as " new " ideas and thoughts are stimulated when I review these pictures.

The pictures are take all around our yard. I love the one taken through the rake rungs of me and my wife. They were spur-of-the-moment - impulsive shots and I think they came out pretty well.

What do you all think of the pink-petaled Thanksgiving cactus inside in our living room? I love those flowers and they come and bloom nicely each holiday. They were gifts to us, both of them. We also have a delicate cream-white/pale yellow-colored one, too. Nice gifts that just keep giving each holiday season : candy to our eyes.

The one of the bag of leaves is one that I took of several bags of leaves to create my " Monet hay stacks / leaf stacks ". I already blogged about that earlier.

I also have already blogged about the silver orb out back ( the shiny silver ball ) that I caught this reflection of myself and camera and the beautiful canape of yellow leaves behind me, too. I love it.

The pink rose comes from an old rose bush that my mother gave us and which we moved from the old house to here : where it thrives even in the coldest of weather. We also brought the beautiful morning glories in a small pot from the old house here and it, too thrives all around our yard as long as there is adequate sunshine.

So much beauty even just within our own yard. It requires looking at and noticing. I try and take the time, even when I am raking or doing other chores outside.

I love those red leaves from the Goose-neck/swan's-neck flowers that have these amazing curved white-many-petaled flowers that look like the neck of either a goose or a swan! In the fall they turn this amazing red color and are great to cut and bring inside for holiday floral arrangements. My wife uses them each year we entertain during the holidays.

I like to grill so there is a shot of the chicken thighs and me applying some red-wine sauce mixed into it with herbs and spices. Yummy, tender, moist.

Anyway, enjoy and Happy Holidays to One and to All of Us this 2008 in these very trying times as we attempt to keep body, mind and soul healthy and alive under one roof/ one skin - ours.

Cheers, TONY
